When having to wear a mask with safety glasses while at work, an anti-fog lens is a “big plus”. That is what Randy Kaiser, technician at Rost Motor, Inc. in Manson, Iowa said after reviewing DeWalt’s Converter Safety Glasses.
“The anti-fog coating must have helped because the safety glasses didn’t fog up like some others that I have worn,” Kaiser says.
In addition to not having to stop what he is doing all the time because his glasses keep fogging up, Kaiser notes that the soft foam frame liner was another standout feature that he liked.
“I have used various safety glasses throughout my career, but these are the first I have tried with foam inserts,” he says. “The safety glasses were very comfortable to wear and I’m assuming that the foam inserts contributed to that comfort.”
Not to mention that the foam inserts also provide a seal to block debris from getting in.
While in the shop, Kaiser wore the DeWalt’s safety glasses whenever there was a possible risk of something getting into his eyes – from flying metal, chemicals, anti-freeze, gasoline, or anything else that could be damaging to the eyes. “It’s always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to your eyes,” he adds.
The safety glasses came in an easy-to-open display package and included a neck strap, which Kaiser notes was a “nice bonus”. The neck strap not only helps to keep the safety glasses from falling off but is elastic to provide additional comfort and versatility.
The Converter safety glasses also feature a padded nose bridge, interchangeable temples, and a ratcheting adjustment at the temples for a snug and customized fit. They also provide 99.9 percent UV protection and are impact resistant.
Although the UV protection is not very pertinent to Kaiser as he mainly works indoors, the impact resistant feature is. “They are impact resistant as any good safety glasses should be,” he states.
The one and only downside Kaiser soon discovered was that the safety glasses don’t fit over other glasses. As a technician who wears regular glasses, Kaiser found himself having to choose between protecting his eyes or being able to see well.
Although it’s not common for safety glasses to fit over regular glasses, he said it sure would be nice.
Overall, Kaiser found DeWalt’s Converter Safety Glasses to be very well made, fit well, and were comfortable to wear.
