Ford is recalling certain 2004-2006 Ranger vehicles that, under a previous recall, received replacement front passenger air bag inflators that may have been installed incorrectly.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), if the recalled vehicle with the improperly installed air bag inflator were to be involved in an accident, the airbags may not deploy and could cause serious or fatal injuries to the passengers of the vehicle.
To fix the situation and prevent future injury, dealers will inspect and reinstall the airbag inflator free of charge for the affected vehicles.
Ford expects to mail updated owner notification letters by May 22. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 23S08.
