Where can filter beta ratios be obtained for the various engine oil filters?

July 7, 2010

Q: Where can filter beta ratios be obtained for the various engine oil filters? It is tough finding them for comparison.

A: I do not know of any database that provides a competitive filter beta ratio. The problem is that most manufacturer's like Champion/Luberfiner have over 6,000 SKUs in our product offering.

We are constantly developing new and improved filter performances for individual filters. This may result in improved filter components + filter media = improved filter performance and a widespread database would be difficult to manage.

Also most filter manufacturers benchmark off of the OE engine manufacturer performance. OE engine manufacturer do not provide their specifications.

Filter manufacturers do provide their info on an as needed basis.

Here is a link to the Filter Manufacturer's Council website that provides a lot of info.
