Gladstein, Neandross and Associates (GNA), organizers of the Alternative Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo, announced that Tom O'Brien, managing director, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of TravelCenters of America (TA), the nation's largest full-service truck stop chain, will deliver the keynote address at this year's 2013 ACT Expo.
Taking place in Washington, D.C., June 24 to 27, ACT Expo is the largest conference dedicated to alternative fuels and advanced vehicle technologies in North America. O'Brien will deliver the opening keynote address at the conference on Tuesday, June 25 at 12:45 p.m. at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, site of the 2013 ACT Expo.
As CEO for TA, O'Brien is responsible for directing the management, policy and strategy decisions of the full-service fueling locations in the company's nationwide network. The addition of O'Brien to the ACT Expo reinforces the commercial fleet sector's trajectory toward greater acceptance and use of alternative fuels.
In April of this year, TA announced that it, together with fellow ACT Expo sponsor Shell Oil Products U.S. would construct and operate a network of natural gas fueling lanes at existing TA locations along the U.S. Interstate Highway System.
"TA, together with Shell, is putting forth significant strategic effort and investment in reaching for what may be a milestone achievement for the greater acceptance of alternative fuels by commercial vehicles," said O'Brien. "We believe our network of existing full service travel centers is the perfect backbone upon which to construct the infrastructure to deliver natural gas for commercial over-the-road uses."
ACT Expo attracts thousands of attendees every year to discuss the latest on the economic, environmental and energy security benefits of alternative fuel use in transportation.
