• Ford recalls Focus Electric vehicles

    Powertrain control module software issue can result in loss of power while driving for Focus Electric vehicles.

    Ford Motor Co. is recalling certain model year 2012 to 2014 Focus Electric vehicles manufactured Sept. 15, 2011, through Aug. 23, 2013, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. In the affected vehicles, a powertrain control module software problem may result in a stall-like condition. An unexpected loss of power while driving increases the risk of a crash. A potential 2,456 units are affected.

    Ford will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the power control module, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin by late November 2013. Ford's recall campaign number is 13S09. Owners may contact Ford Motor Co. Customer Relationship Center at 1-866-436-7332.
