ASE adds practice exams for official certification tests

The practice tests cover the Automobile Advanced Engine Performance Specialist (L1), Automobile Service Consultant (C1), and Auto Maintenance and Light Repair (G1) tests.

The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) has launched three practice tests, adding to its resources designed to help test takers prepare for the official ASE certification tests. The practice tests cover the Automobile Advanced Engine Performance Specialist (L1), Automobile Service Consultant (C1), and Auto Maintenance and Light Repair (G1) tests.

The L1 Practice Test, which prepares test takers for one of ASE's most advanced certifications, features both types of questions that appear on the L1 test:

  • General test questions, with technology that is common to most light duty vehicles.
  • Composite Vehicle test questions, with specific technology that requires use of the Composite Vehicle Type 4 (CV4) Reference Booklet.

By following this format, the L1 Practice Test helps test takers become familiar with using the revised CV4 reference to diagnose problems outlined in the test questions, an important key to success with this test. The C1 and G1 Practice Tests are especially useful for service consultants and entry-level technicians taking their first ASE certification test.

The Official ASE Practice Tests are delivered exclusively online and are half the length of the corresponding ASE certification test. The test questions were developed using the same procedures as actual ASE test questions. As an added value, Practice Test questions provide explanations about why answer options are or are not correct.
