Federal-Mogul held an open-house event at its new “Garage Gurus” automotive technical training center in Skokie, Ill., adjacent to the Fel-Pro headquarters.
The 15,000-square-foot facility will offer training courses in a wide range of workshops, including steering and suspension, brakes, ignition, engine and sealing, electrical and drivability.
The Garage Gurus training program is extensive, with 15 new training centers across the country planned by the end of 2015.
In addition to the official training centers, the program includes a fleet of Web-connected “Gurus-On-The-Go” product technology vans for field clinics, “Gurus On-Demand (mobile app), eLearning modules and Webinairs (Gurus Online) as well as tech lines (Gurus On-Call).
Garage Gurus training and support services are available to any repair professional, automotive trade school instructor and student, as well as parts professionals. Courses are offered in both English and Spanish.
The Garage Gurus instructors include more than 100 ASE-certified Master Techs and training specialists. According to Federal-Mogul, “There is a modest fee for some training workshops, but there is no charge for Gurus-On-The-Go field clinics and product demonstrations. Online and On-Call services are also available at no charge for most users.”
In conjunction with the grand opening of the first three “Garage Gurus” regional training centers, Federal-Mogul introduced a scholarship program for students studying to become professional automotive technicians. The company will award 12 $2,500 scholarships for the 2015-2016 academic year. Applications will be accepted through June 30, 2015.
