Federal-Mogul Motorparts to close Alabama facility, impacting 82 jobs

The Boaz plant closure marks a significant downsizing for Federal-Mogul Motorparts, which has been in operation since 1899.

Michigan-based automotive supplier Federal-Mogul Motorparts will be scaling back its operations with the closure of its facility in Boaz, Alabama, reports AL.com.

The facility is slated to close on Sept. 25, taking with it the jobs of 82 employees. It’s expected to push the number of Alabama employees impacted by mass layoffs and closures in 2025 to nearly 3,000, exceeding last year’s total.

Founded in 1899, Federal-Mogul was acquired by Tenneco in 2018, and now operates under a single business division called DRiV.

The Boaz facility is one of five manufacturing facilities Federal-Mogul has in the U.S., with others located in Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, and Illinois, in addition to ones in 13 other countries. The company also operates a distribution and warehouse center in Jacksonville, Alabama.
