FORD: 2003-05 Excursion, 2003-07 F-Super Duty, 2004-09 E-350, E-450, E-550

SUBJECT: Hard starting, crank/no-start, or rough running may be caused by a faulty Fuel Injector Control Module (FICM) or by a sticking spool valve. The symptoms are most likely to occur when the engine is cold and may also include fault codes P0611 or P1378 and/or a variety of injector codes. The bulletin indicates a sticking spool valve might be alleviated by using the lightest oil allowed for the season. The bulletin also includes FICM diagnostic procedures and complete instructions for calibrating the FICM using a Ford IDS scan tool. A pin-out illustration is also included. Bulletin 08-26-3

GENERAL MOTORS: 2004-08 Chevrolet Malibu, 2005-09 Pontiac G6, 2007-09 Saturn AURA

Subject: Intermittent brake light failure, difficulty shifting out of Park, cruise control malfunctions and/or DTC C0131, C0161 or C0227 may all be caused by problems with the Body Control Module (BCM) connector. Some connector pins have been found to corrode, particularly C2-18, C2-31 and C2-59. The bulletin says the problem can be repaired by cleaning the connector and applying dielectric grease, and it specifically states the BCM does not need replacement. The bulletin also includes complete instructions for the repair. 08-05-22-009B
