Q-Shield, by American Diessel and Gas, Inc., is based on improving the efficiency and performance of a vehicle's intercooler system. This then leads to a more complete combustion rate of the fuel which results in an increased mpg in diesel engines of between 10 to 20 percent. The basic concept of Q-Shield is that by insulating the air intake system and other engine components with specialized heat shields, the temperature of the air, when it enters the combustion chamber would be close to ambient. This results in the air being both cooler and denser with a high level of oxygen, thus achieving a more complete combustion, and thereby reducing fuel consumption.
