After application on metal, it dries to a black paintable surface that makes a great primer for painting, the company says. This spray can be used anywhere where rust is beginning to show. After application, it dries to a black, ready to paint surface and is completely cured in 12 to 24 hours. Each 16 oz can covers 35 to 55 sq. ft. The initial dry time is three to 10 minutes.
