The Astro Tools ONYX 29-pc TurboStep HSS Reduced Shank Mechanics Length Drill Bit Set, No. TS29, features a patented spiral-fluted stepped-tip design that outperforms every conventional drill bit design on nearly all materials, says the company. These drill bits range in size from 1/16" - 1/2" and are precision ground from heat-treated quality M2 high-speed steel. They are also onyx oxide coated to prevent chip build-up. The design eliminates bit walk and saves time, eliminating the need for pilot holes. They also feature three-flat shanks, reduced shanks above 3/8”, and are mechanic’s length in order to access cramped spaces. They excel on hard alloys, sheet metal, and imperfect parts that are difficult to start drilling into.
