The Auto Care Association has expanded access to its new application programming interface to the entire auto care industry. After a limited release in November 2024, the updated API provides streamlined access to the organization's ACES, PIES, and IPO reference databases.
The new JSON-format API offers daily database updates and automated IT processes, marking a significant advancement from the traditional manual download system. Users can now access both complete database tables and specific updates through the interface.
"As we move toward the goal of real-time exchange of content between partners via API, the logical first step is leveraging that approach with the reference data we all consume from Auto Care," said Marc Pappas, technology standards committee chair and CIO of Federated Auto Parts.
While the API introduces new capabilities, the association will maintain manual downloads through autocarevip.com in multiple formats, including Access2007, ASCII, MySQL, SQLServer2008R2, and JSON. However, manual update frequency will shift from weekly to monthly starting January 2025, except for the Brand Table, which remains daily.
The API launch follows the association's May 2024 commitment to enhance user access to its reference databases. Industry professionals can schedule consultations with the Auto Care Association's technology team to learn more about the new API implementation.
