Sales Tip: Plan ahead

Aug. 2, 2021
Planning in advance can help you make more sales and be prepared in the event that some products may have a very limited quantity.

Cornwell Quality Tools dealer, Andy Powell likes to stay one step ahead of the competition.

"When the next month’s flyer comes out, I start my planning," Powell says. "I look it over; I mark what I want. I remember what certain customers ask me about and when it comes on sale, I let them know in advance that it’s on sale in the next week or two and we have it in stock. If they still want it, I’ll get it or if I have it, I set it aside for them.

"I also go out and start taking preorders on the new deals. I take advantage of the weekly “Best Price Ever” that Cornwell puts together for us dealers. I place my next month’s stock order at midnight on the 23rd each month when the new pricing starts. I do that because it’s a first-come, first-serve basis, and also because a lot of items are limited quantity right now due to the pandemic."
