Symptom: 'Park Assist Service Required' message in instrument cluster. With fault codes in Rear Electrical Module (REM)

  • 4F42 Parking Sensor 1
  • 4F43 Parking Sensor 2
  • 4F44 Parking Sensor 3

  • 4F46 Parking Sensor 5
  • 4F47 Parking Sensor 6
  • 4F48 Parking Sensor 7
  • 4F49 Parking Sensor 8

Cause: Faulty wiring, fault sensors or faulty module

Fix: Follow the procedure below if you have the above fault codes and symptoms:

1. Go to BODY

2. Select REAR ELECTRONICS MODULE

3. Select DYNAMIC DATA STATUS

4. Select PARKING ASSISTANCE

5. From here, select SENSORS 1-8

6. On screen 1 it will display rear parking sensor and on screen 2 you will see front parking sensors

a) If it displays FAULTY, this indicates a fault on that sensor

b) Try swapping the faulty sensor with another one to verify if fault is with sensor or wiring or module

c) If fault moves to another sensor, this indicates a faulty sensor and the sensor will require replacing, otherwise continue continuity test on wiring and if OK, the module will need to be replaced

NOTE: Parking sensor locations RHD

  • Parking sensor 1 = outer left rear
  • Parking sensor 2 = inner left rear
  • Parking sensor 3 = inner right rear
  • Parking sensor 4 = outer right rear
  • Parking sensor 5 = outer left front
  • Parking sensor 6 = inner left front
  • Parking sensor 7 = inner right front
  • Parking sensor 8 = outer right front

7. Once repair has been done, you will need to verify if the fault is fixed. Go to DYNAMIC DATA VALUES

8. Then select DISTANCES and test

Here you will see a value indicating the distance away from the object. The value is displayed as a number between 1 and 32.

  • 1 = the distance from the rear bumper to the detected object is approximately 1.5m or more
  • 2-31 = the distance from the rear bumper to the detected object is between approximately 1.5m and 0.3m
  • 32 = the distance from the rear bumper to the detected object is approximately 0.3m or less

9. Erase all DTCs and carry out a road test. Your fault should now be fixed
