Unfreezing RAM Transmission

2012 RAM trucks equipped with a 4-speed 42RLE or 6-speed 65RFE or 6-speed 66RFE automatic transmission, and built before Nov. 15, 2011 may have DTC P0441 stored (EVAP purge system performance). This applies to 1500, 2500 and 3500 cab chassis models.

2012 RAM trucks equipped with a 4-speed 42RLE or 6-speed 65RFE or 6-speed 66RFE automatic transmission, and built before Nov. 15, 2011, may have DTC P0441 stored (EVAP purge system performance). This applies to 1500, 2500 and 3500 cab chassis models.

The transmission light and/or transmission cooler freeze-up may be involved as well. This condition will typically occur when temperatures are below -10 degrees F. The technician may also find DTC P0218 set (transmission high temperature operation activated). Updating the software will correct these conditions. Use software release 12.01 or higher.
