North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE) released their sixth annual fleet fuel study report which dives deep into how major fleets across North American adopt fuel efficiency technologies and practices.
The study contain data results from fleets with Class 8 tractors (daycabs and sleepers) and trailers in regional and long-haul applications. Fleets providing data for this study include Bison Transport, Cardinal Logistics, CFI, CR England, Challenger Motor Freight, Crete, Frito-Lay, Hirschbach, Maverick, Mesilla Valley Transportation, NFI Industries, Nussbaum, Paper Transport, Prime, Ryder System Inc., Schneider, United Parcel Service and US Xpress.
The primary goal was to study the fleets’ levels of adoption of 85 technologies and practices which are currently available.
Of the 20 fleets studied, all are increasing their rate of adoption of fuel efficiency technologies, and they are enjoying improved fuel economy as a result, according to the study results. The overall adoption rate for the technologies studied in this report has grown from 17 percent in 2003 to 44 percent in 2017.
