Henry Kurz, owner of Precision Service & Parts Inc. in Brookfield, Wis., took interest in a forecast presented at the 2013 AAPEX Show in Las Vegas by David Portalatin, executive director at NPD Group Inc., particularly the aging of the "sweet spot," the age range in which consumers are inclined to invest in automotive maintenance and repair. Interviewed by Elliot Maras, editor of Professional Tool & Equipment News, Kurz said Portalatin's findings about aftermarket spending are consistent with what he has observed.
