Ethanol fuel technology to headline NASTF at ASRW

Sept. 28, 2012
Panel will present new engine technologies that will help automakers meet the mandated Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standard (54.5 mpg by 2025) and help prepare automotive technicians for servicing tomorrow's vehicles

Multi-media car-talk personality and automotive service industry veteran, Bobby Likis, brings ethanol fuel system experts into the Fall 2012 General Meeting of the National Automotive Service Task Force (NASTF). Likis's panel will present new engine technologies that will help automakers meet the mandated Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standard (54.5 mpg by 2025) and help prepare automotive technicians for servicing tomorrow's vehicles. On the "Ethanol Myth Busters" panel will be Dr. Matti Vint, Chief Engineer for Ricardo Engineering, developers of the Extreme Boost Direct Injection (EBDI) 3.2L/V6 engine -- optimized for the high-octane properties of ethanol -- that rivals a 6.4L Diesel. Also on the panel will be Robert White, Director of Development for the Renewable Fuels Association, an acclaimed expert on ethanol fuels.

The Fall 2012 NASTF General Meeting, 1-4:30pm, Saturday, October 13 is open to all show pass holders at the Automotive Service Repair Week (ASRW) events in the Morial Convention Center, New Orleans, LA.

In addition to the ethanol presentation, the NASTF General Meeting will include other revealing sessions, including "Aftermarket Outlook – Headwinds, Tailwinds & Strategic Shifts" presented by Steve Handschuh, President of the Automotive Aftermarket Supplier's Association; "Why You Need an LSID" by David Lowell, Director of the NASTF Security Data Release Model project; and NASTF Committee news about service information, tools, training, security, collision and NASTF communications.
