Eaton launches new Roadranger used truck program with extended warranty options

Nov. 13, 2013
The program features extended warranty options available for up to eight years and 1 million miles on transmissions, and up to five years and 500,000 miles on clutch components.

Power management company Eaton announced a new Roadranger used truck program for the North American Class 6, 7 and 8 truck markets that features extended warranty options available for up to eight years and 1 million miles on transmissions, and up to five years and 500,000 miles on clutch components.

The program consists of five elements: a used truck Extended Protection Plan (EPP); factory remanufactured transmissions; clutches; Roadranger lube offerings; and, information on earlier generation Eaton automated transmissions. A series of customer training resources are also included in the program along with aftermarket offerings from Eaton.

“Used truck registrations grew a little more than nine percent in the first half of 2012, indicating demand within the secondary market is solid,” said Dave Karnes, director, Roadranger Field Sales and Marketing, North American --Truck. “Eaton products are well known for their durability, and these new extended protection plan offerings can give the used truck shopper added peace of mind when making their purchase decision.”

An industry study conducted by the Americas Commercial Transportation (ACT) Research, Co., between September 2012-2013, shows the North American used truck market for Class 6-8 vehicles at nearly $12 billion. As more customers enter the secondary truck market, the need to provide extended warranty plans has grown and factors into the buying decisions of used truck customers.

This new program offers customers the option to purchase extended protection plans for three product areas: the existing Eaton manual and automated heavy- and medium-duty transmission; the existing transmission with an existing Eaton heavy- or medium-duty clutch; and, the existing transmission but with a replacement clutch. All of the programs can be purchased under one, two or three-year warranties.

A dedicated web site (Roadranger.com/usedtruck) features detailed sales literature and sales training resources, a specific section on the warranty guidelines, and a quick start video for customers along with driver’s instructions for both the UltraShift® and AutoShift® transmission offerings.

“We have compiled a comprehensive set of tools to help used truck salespeople showcase Eaton’s commitment to our products and support those customers who rely on these products,” Karnes said.

All Eaton products are backed by the Roadranger network, which includes more than 200 drivetrain professionals throughout North America.
