Philatron Wire and Cable, a U.S. manufacturer of vehicle power cables and air hoses for the heavy duty trucking industry, introduced its new corrosion-proof Stallion ABS power cable and coiled Alaskan Stallion air hoses at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky.

The Stallion coiled ABS power cable is a nearly indestructible cabling system that has been designed without the common weaknesses of metal, nylon and plastic. Unlike metal plugs that are destined to corrode as time and weather take their toll, the Stallion uses its own patented Xenoy plugs. The polycarbonate plugs outperform metallics, are connected with tensile strength of 480 lbs and are guaranteed not to corrode or freeze to sockets.

The tough outer jacket of the Stallion ABS cable is made of a proprietary military-grade polymer that resists road salts, chemicals, abrasions and more. The Stallion Xenoy plug has been tested to successfully operate between 70 degrees below zero and over 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

"The Stallion is a far more durable alterative to traditionally designed coil cords and will deliver a superior service life," Phil Ramos, Jr., CEO of Philatron Wire and Cable, said. "The plated, D-shaped contacts in our sockets are a good example of our enhanced product quality, and have been tested for over one million couplings without losing effectiveness."

New Alaskan Stallion air hose sets, which feature proprietary materials designed specifically for arctic weather use, were also on display at the Philatron booth. The winter of 2014 reminded many fleets and owner-operators that subzero temperatures can wreak havoc on a vehicle’s air hoses. The Alaskan Stallion’s reinforced dual-stage hose walls are twice as thick as nylon air lines, and exhibit superb anti-kinking and flexibility characteristics from 100 degrees below zero to over 260 degrees Fahrenheit.

"From the Alaskan Stallions' solid brass fittings, to their glad hand grips and corrosion-proof Armor Guard that replace spring systems, these hoses are exceptionally robust," Ramos said. "Our proprietary polymeric material construction gives our Alaskan Stallions the perfect balance of long-term coil memory and pliability, regardless of weather conditions."

Combined, the new Stallion ABS coiled power cable and Alaskan Stallion air hoses create a unique cab / trailer interface that is significantly more durable and reliable than other offerings. The heightened product resilience benefits operators by minimizing downtime and roadside repair costs while maximizing safety, profits and vehicle utility. Fleets and owner-operators alike also gain the confidence and peace of mind that come with knowing that cabling and hoses won’t be implicated during CSA-related inspections.

"I earn my living on the road, and I don’t have the time or patience for needless equipment failures," Scott Dunkel, independent owner-operator, said. "Philatron’s Stallion ABS coiled power cable and Alaskan Stallion air hoses have corrected what was otherwise a weak link in my rig’s ability to get the job done no matter what the weather throws at us."

Philatron proudly designs and manufacturers all of its Stallion ABS coiled power cables and Alaskan Stallion air hoses in America. The company buys raw materials in the U.S. and fabricates its own wire cabling and proprietary polymers in its plant in Santa Fe Springs, Calif.
