Power management company Eaton has been selected by Navistar, Inc. as the truck maker’s new supplier of heavy duty remanufactured transmissions. The majority of the deliveries to Navistar’s roughly 350 North American dealers will be Eaton Flex Reman transmissions that are available on the most popular of Eaton’s transmission models.
“This new agreement with Navistar promises to bring a wealth of benefits to our mutual fleet and independent trucker customers,” said Shane Groner, global account director – Navistar, Eaton commercial vehicle group. “We are continuously enhancing our Flex Reman lineup of transmissions and we’re happy to see that the industry as a whole and Navistar specifically are supporting these improvements in a big way.”
The Flex Reman transmissions ticketed for Navistar will include a customized design with shift bars in a forward configuration on the housings. Ten part numbers will be available with this design. Deliveries are expected to begin July 1.
“We very much welcome this newest agreement with the industry’s top supplier of commercial vehicle transmissions,” said John Pens, product manager – drivetrain components for Navistar. “It should definitely help our dealers increase and enhance their aftermarket business. Ultimately our end user customers will benefit the most.”
Eaton recently added several new enhancements to its Flex products, including a new pricing structure with logistic center, direct ship and truck-down orders all priced the same. Delivery changes and 24-hour availability have also been added, and recent additions to the Flex lineup now brings Eaton’s coverage to more than 50 part numbers that cover up to 80 percent of industry demand.
Standard warranty coverage for Flex Reman transmissions is two years/unlimited miles. Extended protection plans are also available, and when Flex or standard remanufactured transmissions are bundled with an Eaton Advantage Series clutch and Roadranger lubricants, the transmission warranty coverage is extended to three years.
Because Eaton Flex reman transmissions cover a wide range of torques and are shipped with no clutch housings, truck dealers are able to lower their parts inventories and still increase the availability of multiple remanufactured transmission models. End users also benefit with enhanced access to the many models of Eaton aftermarket transmissions.
In addition to the exclusive use of genuine OEM-quality parts, all Eaton heavy-duty remanufactured transmissions have roughly 20 percent more new parts than most other remanufactured transmissions, and all units are performance tested to ensure Eaton standards and specifications are met.
