XL Hybrids announces 4M customer on-road miles achieved

Oct. 21, 2014
XL Hybrids, Inc. announced that its fleet customers continue to log high mileage using its XL3 Hybrid Electric Drive System for a cumulative total of 4 million on-road miles.

XL Hybrids, Inc., the pioneering developer of hybrid electric powertrain technology for commercial and municipal fleets, announced that its fleet customers continue to log high mileage using its XL3 Hybrid Electric Drive System for a cumulative total of 4 million on-road miles. This major industry and company milestone was achieved because XL Hybrids’ customers are driving their service, delivery and cargo fleets over 500,000 miles per month, a number that is increasing monthly as more and more XL Hybrids vehicles hit the road. More information will be provided during a press conference being held at the Southeast Alternative Fuels Conference, October 23, 2014 at the Raleigh Convention Center in Raleigh, N.C.

“Our customers enjoy a quick adoption rate because the XL3 system doesn’t need any special plugs, charging or fueling infrastructure,” said Clay Siegert, co-founder and vice president of supply chain for XL Hybrids. “Fleet managers can retrofit existing fleet vehicles or order new vans with our charge-sustaining hybrid electric powertrains. Fleets immediately benefit from cost savings of 20 percent reduction in fuel consumption.”

During the Southeast Alternative Fuels Conference, XL Hybrids will be at booth #208 to showcase how the technology is helping customers, such as The Coca-Cola Company and PepsiCo, meet their sustainability goals, while providing monthly operating cost savings and fast pay-backs for fleets.

Fleet managers also can test drive a Chevrolet Express van equipped with XL Hybrids’ hybrid electric powertrain and experience why the simple system requires no special maintenance and no driver training.

In addition, Ed Lovelace, chief technology officer for XL Hybrids, will share fleet success stories during the conference’s Alternative Fuels Track.

Since 2009, XL Hybrids has had a sustainable approach to the market. While other alternative fuel companies can require $25,000 to $100,000 in incremental capital costs, the XL3 Hybrid Electric Drive for passenger and cargo vans requires less than a $10,000 investment. The simple, fail-safe system provides fleets with 99.9 percent uptime due to the post-transmission, parallel design.
