The fourth annual Sustainability Leadership Symposium will once again be part of SEMA’s 2014 education offering on Monday, Nov. 3rd, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Las Vegas Convention Center in rooms N231 and N233.

This is the second year that the symposium will be hosted at SEMA. The cross-industry dialog is open to all show attendees interested in learning about the opportunities this subject holds for the industry as well as methods for advancing this global initiative within the North American collision repair industry.

To underscore the importance of sustainability and the need for both collaboration and cross-industry support, several noted businesses, publications and associations across the U.S. and Canada have lent their endorsement to say that they too share a vision for advancing sustainable business practices in all sectors of the industry.

The growing list of 2014 symposium endorsers includes:

  • Collision Repair Education Foundation (CREF)
  • DCR Systems
  • NuCon Services
  • Collision Repair Magazine
  • Bodyshop Business
  • ABRN
  • Fender Bender
  • The Economical Insurance Group of Canada
  • GMG Envirosafe
  • LKQ Keystone
  • Park Place Dealerships
  • Mark’s Auto Body
  • Moody’s Collision Repair Centers
  • California Autobody Association
  • Selecta Autobody
  • Women’s industry Network
  • Givens Collision Repair Center

AkzoNobel’s North America Communications Manager, Bill Orr, states, “It is both humbling and inspiring to see this influential group of industry leaders join in this exploration of possibilities. We are delighted that so many ‘points of light’ who are already making their own statements supporting sustainability are stepping forward to lend their voices and expertise in how to ‘future proof’ collision repair. These entities are helping to form the nucleus of what we hope will someday be a united coalition dedicated to advancing this dialog and practices that will take on a life of its own in years to come.”

The symposium will be moderated by Dr. Manish Mehta, Director of Strategic Projects & Sustainability at the National Center for Manufacturing Science, and Michael Shesterkin, President and Founder of What’s Next? A keynote presentation will be conducted by Dr. John Sutherland, the Fehsenfeld Family Head of Environmental and Ecological Engineering at Purdue University.

A formidable list of guest panelists includes past AkzoNobel 2014 FIT Sustainability Leadership Honorees, trade publication editors, industry stakeholders, and guest moderators/speakers, who will participate in roundtable discussions on issues related to remanufacturing, cross-industry collaboration, and Blue Ocean opportunities within collison repair, among others.

AzkoNobel will also be exhibiting in Booth #25165 located in the Central Hall’s Performance and Racing area.
