For an impressive fourth year in a row, Bob Mrzyglod, a diesel technician with Aim NationaLease, Girard, Ohio, was named Top Tech at NationaLease’s 5th Annual Tech Challenge, a national competition of technicians representing the organization’s full service truck leasing companies from the U.S. and Canada. The competition for the title began a day before the organization’s annual Maintenance Managers Meeting, which took place May 13-15 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Mrzyglod’s award was presented after a day-long competition among the nine regional winners who qualified to take part in the Tech Challenge. Judges, techs and spectators gathered for the competition on the morning of May 12, at Bentley Truck Services, Inc., a NationaLease Member’s, Miami, Fla. facility. Winners were presented with their awards at the Maintenance Managers Meeting Awards Dinner two nights later.

“Being named the NationaLease Top Tech more than once is a great achievement,” says Joe Puff, vice president of truck technology and maintenance for NationaLease. “Being able to do it four times is amazing. We are so proud of Bob and all of our winners and participants, and we look forward to a spirited competition at the TMC SuperTech in the fall.”

The nine qualifying technicians earned their spots in the competition after finishing first in their region on an earlier written knowledge exam. At the Bentley facility, they competed in the hands-on portion of the event, exhibiting their expertise in stations that included starting and charging, electrical, brakes, wheel ends, HVAC and engine diagnostics.

Coming in as First Runner-up is Kory Stoudt of Aim NationaLease, a repeat winner from last year. Second Runner-up is Wade Murphy-Price from Airoldi Brothers NationaLease. Mrzyglod, Stoudt and Murphy-Price will now represent the NationaLease organization at the TMC Annual SuperTech Competition to be held this fall.

The other regional winners who competed in the Tech Challenge were: Trevor Shaw, VEL NationaLease; Nick Ottlinghaus, Miler NationaLease; Brian Peters, Salem NationaLease; Neal Bixby, Hogan Truck Leasing, Inc., a NationaLease Member; Jeff Weaks, ATC Truck Rental and Leasing, a NationaLease Member and Joseph Pearo, Miramar NationaLease.
