Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company, a manufacturer of refrigerated trailers and dry freight vans, flatbeds and Tautliner curtainsided trailers, announced the 50th anniversary of building trailers in Utah at its Clearfield, Utah, manufacturing facility.
Utility opened its first Clearfield plant in 1965 and originally manufactured dry vans, furniture vans and refrigerated vans. In 1999, with the introduction of the 3000R refrigerated van, specific tooling was needed and Utility moved and expanded to a larger building nearby. Today, the plant is one of the largest trailer manufacturing facilities in the world, and employs 1,160 individuals and has earned numerous safety awards from Liberty Mutual for its safe work practices.
“Our plant has prided itself in producing quality trailers throughout the years, and we look forward to another 50 years of continued improvement while maintaining the same emphasis on quality, safety and efficiency,” said Todd Smith, Clearfield plant manager.
“The Clearfield community would like to thank the Bennett family for placing this facility here. Utility has provided the livelihood for hundreds, if not thousands, of families in Utah,” added Smith. The Clearfield plant recently held an event to celebrate their 50th anniversary.
