Motor and Motoshop Technology Tools are joining forces to deliver a web-based estimate and repair system that will enable light duty commercial shops to improve shop workflow productivity, efficiency and profitability, according to the company. The combined product is slated to launch in early 2016 and will feature a comprehensive data set that integrates the capabilities of Motor Selectline a web-based estimate writing and workflow system and Motoshop Technology Tools, which is a product portfolio of web-based technologies offered by Advance Auto Parts with more than 26 million articles of unedited OE data.

Motor Selectline, a web-based estimate writing and workflow system, incorporates billions of links to automotive repair data and delivers estimates with the parts information, labor and preventive maintenance schedules related specifically to the vehicle and operations selected.  Selectline is an easy-to-use tool that streamlines communication between the front of the shop and the back, allowing the service desk and technicians to communicate electronically without leaving their stations in-shop. It ties estimating, parts search and service information to labor operations, creating a simplified workflow.

MotoLogic Repair and Diagnostics, which includes more than 26 million articles of unedited OE data, features diagnostic flow charts, access to OE-based information, hyperlinking to related articles, color-coded wiring diagrams that allow a user to highlight circuits and a self-directed keyword search feature. Shops using Selectline can easily access MotoLOGIC's fast and accurate search functionality to drive efficiency in the repair process.

"Shops need modern web-based tools for quickly and accurately estimating jobs," said Steven Birdsall, Motor's COO and executive vice president. "We believe that the combination of Selectline's easy to use estimating functions with MotoLOGIC's comprehensive diagnostics repair information delivers unique value to our shop customers."

"Modern web-based diagnostic and estimate tools help shops improve service to their customers," said Scott Bauhofer, senior vice president, E-Business for Advance Auto Parts. "The combination of Selectline and MotoLogic Repair and Diagnostics will enable shops to more   efficiently and effectively provide up-to-date service and repair estimates to their customers."

The combined product will ultimately provide the power of efficiencies delivered by Selectline's mapped and linked data and the flexibility of self-directed diagnostic and search support delivered by MotoLOGIC.
