Cenergy Solutions’ Adsorbent Natural Gas (ANG) technology replaces LPG tanks with natural/biogas tanks

Sept. 21, 2016
This new ANG technology will allow propane users to use less expensive, safer and more abundant natural/biogas for their heating, cooking, vehicles or other energy needs, according to Cenergy Solutions.

Cenergy Solutions, announced a new technology that allows propane (LPG) users throughout the world to replace their LPG tanks with Adsorbent Natural Gas (ANG) tanks that can store natural gas and biogas which is less expensive, more abundant and safer than LPG.

“Cenergy Solutions has made major breakthroughs with adsorbent natural gas and biogas storage which will not only help the world meet its energy needs it will help to capture and store natural and biogas throughout the world," said Gary Fanger, Cenergy Solutions COO/CTO. "This is the technology that will keep methane from escaping into our atmosphere and allow it to be put to good use replacing LPG, gasoline and diesel fuels. Everyone knows natural/biogas burns well and is an efficient, less expensive and renewable form of energy. Yet mass adoption has been slow because of one significant hurdle: High Pressure. Now with Cenergy’s breakthroughs in adsorbent technologies we can store natural/biogas at low pressures making it more affordable and easy to store and use.”

LPG and natural/biogas have similar thermal efficiencies so anything you can do with LPG you can do with adsorbent natural/biogas (ANG) tanks. Cenergy Solutions celebrated their ANG technology breakthroughs by cooking with a small 4.5 gallon LPG tank that was converted to an ANG tank. With one converted LPG to 22 liter ANG tank shown in the picture we could simultaneously supply natural/biogas to 2-BBQ burners and four stove top burners using a total of 88,000 BTUs per hour to cook our lunch for some of our technical team and neighbors.

Cenergy Solutions’ adsorbent natural/bio gas technology allows you to store methane molecules in a dense state at low pressures. You can store three to five times the amount of natural/biogas in an ANG tank as you can in a conventional compressed natural gas tank at the same pressures. Comparable amounts of BTUs can now be stored in an ANG tank in relationship with a similar size LPG tank. The weight is higher in an ANG tank but the advantages of using low cost, abundant and safe natural/biogas far outweigh the disadvantages of added weight.

Two years ago Cenergy Solutions made a major breakthrough in ANG technology making it so they could get natural/biogas to adsorb and desorb efficiently and economically as needed in any gas storage container. The problems of adsorption, desorption, flow and adsorbent containment and compaction that were inherent with this technology were overcome by Cenergy Solutions unique proprietary technology. This breakthrough paved the way for ANG use in many applications some Cenergy Solutions California ANG Test Center Center of which include: wellhead, virtual pipeline, biogas, landfill, sewage, vehicle natural/biogas storage and LPG tank replacement.

Cenergy Solutions latest tests and breakthroughs include the replacement of LPG tanks with ANG tanks. Throughout the world LPG is used for cooking, street vending, heating, vehicle operation and many other applications. Now ANG allows LPG users throughout the world to use adsorbent natural/biogas to replace liquid propane gas. The use of ANG technology by LPG users will help to utilize our natural/biogas resources rather than letting them escape into the earth’s atmosphere or be flared or vented at oil wells, farms, landfills and biogas or treatment plants.

At this time Cenergy Solutions has low pressure ANG tanks available to be used anywhere in the world for natural/biogas storage ranging in size from 22 liters up to 50 cubic meter tanks. This allows customers to store from 50 cubic feet to 4,000 cubic meters of natural/biogas at low pressures for storage or transportation.

Cenergy Solutions is looking for companies throughout the world to partner with to use our technology in their country, region or for their specific application.
