TorcUP’s RAPTOR 1000 Detroit Diesel Package is helping repair shops boost productivity and financial performance by offering a comprehensive repair solution that not only saves time and money, but one that has also been proven to reduce technician injuries, the company says.
TorcUP’s RAPTOR is a Non-Impacting Pneumatic Torque Wrench and is the only torque wrench approved by Detroit Diesel to work on the DD13, DD15 and DD16 engines, according to the company.
As the main component of the Detroit Diesel Package, the RAPTOR torques main bearing bolts and head bolts in less than half the time of current procedures, converting a notoriously cumbersome task into a one-man job and offering substantial labor savings. In addition, The DD Package includes custom designed sockets and reaction cups that have been specifically designed for these engine applications to ensure a safer and more accurate engagement on head and main bolts while in chassis.
“On engine overhaul, it is not uncommon for technicians to strain their shoulders or backs while performing the final 90 degree turns on heads and mains, which get into very high torque values,” says TorcUP’s Regional Manager, Tom Vrana. TorcUP’s DD package is now preventing these injuries and improving the work environments in shops across the U.S. With a torque range between 150 and 1000 ft/lbs, the RAPTOR 1000 has many additional applications and has also been approved for use on lug nuts, fly wheels and leaf springs.
The Detroit Diesel Package is comprised of a RAPTOR 1000 Non-Impacting Pneumatic Torque Wrench, an RP-FRL Unit that filters, regulates and lubricates the tool during operation, a 2 1/2” ISO17025 Certified Pressure Gauge, a 15 ft. Pneumatic Hose, a Standard Reaction Arm, a DD Straight Sliding Reaction Arm, a Lug Nut Reaction Arm and Custom Designed Sockets with 45 degrees and 90 degrees markings made for specific engines to maximize efficiency, accuracy and safety.
