FleetUp partners with Shipwell for tracking and shipment management

The enhanced platform enables fleet managers to select drivers based on their previous drive times, loading and offloading history.

FleetUp, a provider of ELD/HOS compliance solutions for Intelligent Fleet Management, announced a partnership with Shipwell, a connected transportation management system (TMS) provider for shippers, brokers and carriers. The integration of Shipwell's algorithmic tracking technology with FleetUp's FMCSA-compliant electronic logging device (ELD) and fleet management system (FMS) provides fleet managers with a machine learning platform that enables smart scheduling and routing capabilities, data-driven driver selection and real-time communications between drivers and dispatchers on one connected platform.

The Shipwell/FleetUp enhanced platform enables fleet managers access to real-time location tracking technology which provides customers with up-to-date ETA per shipment, and the option to select drivers based on their previous drive times, loading and offloading history. Additionally, fleet management is made simpler with seamless document handling, and comprehensive load and shipment instructions shared with drivers en route using a connected device.

"Shipwell is constantly pushing the technology envelope to make shipper, broker and carrier lives easier. With the December ELD mandate approaching, we researched over sixty ELD devices for integration, and were impressed by FleetUp's robust ELD, fleet management platform, and API solution," said Greg Price, CEO at Shipwell. "Not only is the FleetUp compliance solution one of the easiest to install, it is competitively priced. This partnership is an exciting next step in the digital future of fleet management, and we will continue offering the best compliance and management solutions to our customers."

The Shipwell/FleetUp platform will be available with the industry-leading FleetUp ELD, which installs as a hidden device in under 10 minutes. Unlike competing Bluetooth-enabled solutions, this allows the OBD-II port to remain open for maintenance and for the continued tracking of GPS and vehicle data offline as a safe and reliable compliance solution.

"The integration and partnership of Shipwell and FleetUp makes sense," said Christian Renaud, research director, Internet of Things at 451 Research. "FleetUp's ELD and FMS offerings are proven and robust, and its telematics-based approach avoids potential driver safety issues from poor Bluetooth-based implementations. Fleets and enterprises need to pick the most secure and reliable option when betting the safety of their drivers and loads, and ensuring compliance."
