Goodyear to extend e-commerce program to commercial tires

Feb. 5, 2019
The program will enable owner-operators and small fleets to buy Goodyear commercial truck tires and schedule tire installations with participating Goodyear commercial tire dealers online.

In an effort to help Goodyear commercial tire dealers attract new customers and compete online in the market, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company will expand its e-commerce platform to include commercial tires.

The new program will enable owner-operators and small trucking fleets to buy Goodyear commercial truck tires and schedule tire installations with participating Goodyear commercial tire dealers online and is part of Goodyear’s Total Solution of trusted products, reliable services and fleet management tools, delivered by a nationwide network.

“Positioning Goodyear’s commercial dealers to connect with customers and capture new business is one of our priorities,” said Dustin Lancy, Goodyear commerical tires marketing manager. “We are in a unique position to draw on our experience with e-commerce for consumer tires and be the first to bring a commercial program to the market.”

“Through this program, Goodyear will help drive new customers to my dealership, so I can develop long-term relationships with them and help lower their operating costs,” said Brent Bingham, owner of Bingham Tire, a three-location Goodyear commercial tire dealership based in Barbourville, Ky. “I am excited about the new opportunities that it will create for my business.”

The e-commerce program will officially launch in the third quarter of 2019 and will be available via Goodyear’s commercial tire website (www.goodyeartrucktires.com). Once on the platform, customers will be able to select the right tires for their operations and select an installation date and time with a participating dealer.

Goodyear’s commercial e-commerce program builds on Goodyear’s e-commerce platform (www.goodyear.com) for consumer tires, which was introduced several years ago and enables passenger vehicle owners to buy tires and schedule installations at their local Goodyear dealer.

Goodyear was the first tire manufacturer to offer an e-commerce option for consumer tires and is now the first tire manufacturer to offer an e-commerce program for commercial tires, according to the company.
