The global tier-one automotive technology supplier, Hyundai MOBIS, displayed M.Vision S, its autonomous driving-based concept for urban mobility, with interactive exhibits presenting future hydrogen fuel cell applications in the Las Vegas Convention Center from January 7-10, 2020.
Show attendees experienced communicating with a future car on a large digital art wall. The front camera on M.Vision S captured images of visitors in real time and showed them on the digital art wall while demonstrating a future where vehicles and people are connected. Hyundai MOBIS also had a DIY Zone that let attendees design their own M. Vision S through motion recognition and robot drawing technology. Attendees had the option to print and keep their designs.
Hyundai Motor Group has secured world’s most advanced Hydrogen Fuel Cell Systems and runs the world’s largest production line for hydrogen fuel cell modules in Chungju, Chungcheongbuk-do. To show the global tier-one supplier’s vision for how future mobility will be powered, Hyundai MOBIS presented its Hydrogen Fuel Cell System Experience, taking the audience through a world of clean mobility.
“We use the acronym ACE, which stands for Autonomous driving, Connectivity and Electrification, to describe our core technologies being displayed at CES,” said Baek Gyeong-guk, head of the research planning business division, Hyundai MOBIS (executive vice president). “R&D is concentrated on enabling Hyundai MOBIS to become the clear leader of ACE for future mobility.”
Hyundai MOBIS prepared a separate space for displaying new Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) at CES 2020, including 19 new technologies in automotive electronics, such as the ADAS sensors, OLED clusters, and the Blooming Sound System. They actively engaged global automakers and suppliers for new partnerships.
M.Vision S - future mobility communicating with people
M.Vision S is the fully autonomous driving concept car that integrates the core technologies of Hyundai MOBIS, such as autonomous driving, connectivity, electrification, and advanced lighting.
It is more advanced than M.Vision, which was introduced at last year’s show. The S following M.Vision stands for Sharable Mobility. The core future car technologies of Hyundai MOBIS, such as the autonomous driving sensors like cameras, radar and LiDAR, communication lighting, virtual space touch, 3D rear lamp, and premium sound system KRELL, are converged together in M.Vision S.
Hyundai MOBIS has the camera and radar technology necessary for autonomous driving and is planning to mass produce the level-3 autonomous driving LiDARsystem by 2021 in cooperation with the global LiDARmarket leader, Velodyne.
The technology will also be used as a channel for communicating with the passengers in the car. It will automatically perceive driving modes (autonomous driving or manual) and changes in the emotions of passengers, changing the colors of interior lighting. As the car approaches its destination, it will turn on a different mood light to notify passengers.
Through design collaboration with Hyundai Transys, the interior of M.Vision S has been made into a mobile lounge where both work and relaxation are possible. The position of the driver’s seat or seating arrangement can be adjusted to accommodate driver-operated and autonomous modes. Passengers can also enjoy their time while in the car by using Virtual Space Touch Technology to watch their favorite videos and movies, or listen to music, all with a mere gesture.
