VSP News: Toolbox Topics, Episode 8 -- Portacool and Evaporative Cooling Units

Prior to evaporative cooling units, shops used a number of different methods to try and keep technicians cool. Sometimes called swamp coolers, or wet air coolers -- evaporative coolers have been around for a number of years. Not to be confused with air conditioning systems, evaporative cooling units cool the air by evaporating water.

Companies like Portacool – a manufacturer of portable evaporative coolers since 1990 – continue to work on updating technologies and features for evaporative cooling units, to help them remain an integral part of the shop. PTEN Editor Erica Schueller talks with Thomas Morrison at Portacool to discuss evaporative cooling technology.
