Harbor Freight recalls jack stands for collapse risk

May 20, 2020
The company is recalling three models of the Pittsburgh Automotive 3 Ton and 6 Ton Heavy Duty Steel Jack Stands.

Harbor Freight has recalled certain units of the Pittsburgh Automotive 3 Ton and 6 Ton Heavy Duty Steel Jack Stands, Nos. 56371, 61196, and 61197, due to safety concerns.

According to the safety notice, "there is a potential, while under load and with a shift in weight, for the pawl to disengage from the extension lifting post, allowing the stand to drop suddenly."

To identify recalled Pittsburgh Automotive jack stands, users can check the item number found on their stands. For 56371, the item number is found on the label on the top of each jack stand. For 61196 and 61197, the item number is located on the yellow part of the label on the base of each jack stand.

If a recalled jack stand has been identified, individuals can bring the jack stand to their local Harbor Freight Tools store to receive a gift card.
