Top 15 classic cars on Instagram

July 21, 2021
With the increase in Google searches for 'classic cars for sale,' Uswitch.com decided to check out which classics are getting the most attention on their feeds.

1. Citroen DS

Coming in at number one is the Citroen DS with 137,018 hashtags. Even 66 years after production of this car ended, people are still interested. Thomas Hopkins, from the car buying company CashForCars.com, gave his opinion on why the car has remained so popular.

"The French automaker’s technical advancements and je ne sais quoi, if you will, brought to the DS a styling, driving experience, and new technology that was avant-garde - especially only a decade after the end of World War II. Combined with its relative affordability nowadays, the Citroen DS will always be loved by enthusiasts.”

2. Jaguar E-Type Series 1

Next up is the Jaguar E-Type Series 1, a vehicle often referred to as "the most beautiful car ever made."

3. Fiat 124 Sports Spider

Continuing down the line, the convertible Fiat 124 Sports Spider takes third. Though listed as one of the top three classic cars hashtagged on Instagram, this vehicle is the cheapest car listed in the study with a cost estimate of $14, 939.

4. Ferrari 250 GTO

The Ferrari 250 GTO holds fourth place, and is one of the most expensive cars in the world, having once sold for 70 million dollars. Only 36 models were made during 1962-1964, and the car is now estimated at $49,796,611.

"Ferraris will always be a fascination for all, car enthusiasts or not," Hopkins says. "They represent luxury, power, and grace; something that all people can appreciate and enjoy. The 250 GTO, in particular, is one of the greatest contributors to Ferrari’s domination of all competitive racing in the 60s and early 70s.”

5. Lamborghini Miura

And the final of the top five is the Lamborghini Miura, estimated at $896,340.

“This one is a little surprising to be so far up on the list," Hopkins notes. "It is a complete 180 compared to the Lamborghinis of today. The Miura is more akin to the 250 GTO and the E-Type than it is to the Aventador, Diablo, or Huracan. When it was released in 1964, it was the fastest production road car available at the time.”
