Kia recalls 2020 Cadenza vehicles for rear power window malfunction

Feb. 2, 2022
Rear power windows may operate unexpectedly, increasing risk of injury.

Kia is recalling 2020 Cadenza vehicles that were manufactured from April 1, 2020 to Oct. 15, 2020 due to a malfunction in the rear power windows. Potentially 451 vehicles are affected.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) stated the rear power windows can be operated by the driver’s power window main switch after the ignition has been turned off and a front door is opened, thus failing to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 118, “Power-Operated Window Systems”.

Notifications to vehicle owners are expected to be mailed March 8, 2022. Owners may contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236, or visit nhtsa.gov.

Kia's number for the recall is SC225. The NHTSA's recall number is 22V-022.

Dealers will update the Driver Door Module software at no charge.
