One of the company's most significant investments in renewable energy was the installation of solar panels on its global headquarters. In Feb. 2012, phase one installation made history as the first solar project in the state of Missouri to utilize a 335 watt "Lifeline Solar" monocrystalline solar panel. The phase two installation in 2019 doubled the number of panels for a 70-percent savings in electrical usage. The final Phase Three installation in late 2022 resulted in another double-digit savings in electrical usage as the company completed construction on new office and warehousing buildings. This continued effort keeps Walker on track to their goal of being one of the first manufacturing facilities in Missouri with over 1 Megawatt of solar generation.
By harnessing the power of the sun, the company not only reduces its reliance on fossil fuels but also helps to lower its carbon emissions and conserve valuable natural resources. Walker Products believes that the transition to clean, renewable energy is essential to the well-being of our planet and future generations. They are proud to be taking this step towards a more sustainable future and will continue to seek out new ways to reduce their environmental impact.
The company also installed over 1,500 LED bulbs in its offices and manufacturing facilities to maintain consistency and efficiency throughout the entire campus. LED bulbs use less energy and last longer than traditional incandescent bulbs, leading to less energy consumption and less waste. They also do not contain hazardous materials such as mercury, making them safer for the environment in the event of breakage and disposal. Additionally, LED bulb production has a lower carbon footprint compared to incandescent bulb production.
Through these initiatives, Walker Products is taking a step towards a more sustainable future and sending a message to their employees, customers, and the community that they are committed to environmental stewardship.
