Stellantis announced the voluntary safety recall of just over a million vehicles for a rearview camera display issue. The largest share of recalled vehicles consists of recent Chrysler Pacificas, Jeep Grand Cherokees, and Ram 1500s. According to the company, notices will start to be delivered to owners and dealers on August 2, 2024.
The notice says that the vehicles have an issue with radio software preventing the rearview display from actually showing the rearview camera's feed. As a result, drivers may not be able to safely reverse. The notice lists the following makes and models as those affected:
2021-2023 Chrysler Pacifica: 235,423 vehicles affected
2021-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L: 202,786 vehicles affected
The recall is the fourth largest of this year, potentially affecting a total of 1,033,433 vehicles, and the largest since February, when Aisin World Corp. of America issued a recall of 1.75 million Toyota and Honda vehicles for an airbag issue.
