Stellantis recalls over 205,000 Jeep and Dodge vehicles

Nov. 19, 2024
The recall is due to a hydraulic control unit (HCU)/anti-lock brake system (ABS) module.

Stellantis has recalled 206,502 of their top-selling vehicles over a hydraulic control unit (HCU)/ anti-lock brake system (ABS) module that can falsely read pressure in the primary circuit.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said a faulty module that misreads pressure could illuminate the brake lights, disable the ABS nad Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and allow the vehicle to start and shift out of park without the brake pedal being pressed.

"A brake light inadvertently illuminates may result in surrounding drivers not receiving accurate indication of slowing or stopping, which can cause a vehicle crash without warning," the agency wrote.

The recall affects Jeep Grand Cherokees from 2018 to 2019 and Dodge Durangos from 2018 to 2019. The NHTSA is still developing a remedy.
