Autel announced that its tablets have been certified by the Auto Authentication Authority (AutoAuth) to access Mercedes-Benz vehicles' Security Gateway (SGW). According to the company, Autel tablet users can now access more brands' secure gateways than any other aftermarket tool using the authentication service.
Mercedes-Benz joins Nissan and Stellantis as automakers that have authorized access to their brands' SGWs via AutoAuth. Autel tablet owners can register their tool for Benz SGW access, which includes 2021 and newer CLE (236), GLC (254), EQE (294), EQE (295), EQS (296), S (223), and C (206) models, and perform restricted functions including clearing codes, active tests, special functions, service resets, coding and adaptations, and Advanced Driver Assistance System calibrations.
The company also negotiated with Volkswagen/Audi Group to add SGW access capability to its diagnostic and service tablets, adding it to its tablets in January. Autel tablet users can purchase single VW/Audi VIN/24-hour sessions or unlimited VINs with the full-year access plan.
What people are saying
Autel Vice President of Customer Success Maurice Miller said, "Increasingly, automakers are securing critical vehicle systems behind gateway modules. We have prioritized getting our tablets authorized to access these systems and enabling our technicians to service the vehicles they need to. Autel has consistently led the aftermarket in getting this functionality to our products and technicians."
