Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration adds Telogis Electronic Logging Device (ELD) to list of registered providers

Sept. 14, 2017
Existing and new Telogis customers can choose from different bundles for hardware and monthly software subscription pricing, based on what they require to comply with current electronic logging rules.

After a rigorous development and evaluation process, Telogis, a Verizon Company, has earned a place on the list of registered providers of Electronic Logging Device (ELD) solutions by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Installation of an ELD has been mandated by the FMCSA to digitally capture and log commercial drivers' Hours of Service (HOS) before the Dec. 18, 2017 deadline.

The Telogis Compliance HOS application allows customers to easily record, transmit and store all HOS information according to the functional requirements as detailed in the official ELD mandate. Telogis Compliance underwent extensive testing, and along with meeting technical specifications, includes enhancements such as continuous Over-the-Air (OTA) updates, support for iOS and Android, multiple rulesets and exemptions – including the 150-air-mile non-CDL short-haul exemption and customizable Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR).

The implementation of the FMCSA ELD rule is designed to help drivers more accurately track and manage records of duty status (RODS), and ultimately keep drivers safe. Commercial drivers and motor vehicle carriers subject to the ELD rule are required to install and utilize a solution by the December deadline.

"The ELD mandate is on the minds of many of our customers, and the FMCSA certification is just one more way we're simplifying the implementation process and making sure they are compliant ahead of the December deadline," said Erin Cave, vice president, product management for Telogis Compliance and Navigation. "Going from paper to electronic logs can be a daunting task, but we partner with each customer in order to provide them with everything they need from connectivity to hardware installation assistance and everything in between."

Existing and new Telogis customers who require ELDs can choose from a number of different bundles for hardware and monthly software subscription pricing that include what drivers and fleets need to comply with the new rules, including: telematics hardware and installation, onboarding assistance, ELD and driver vehicle inspection reporting (DVIR) software, two-way messaging, in-cab tablet mount, electronic tablet, Mobile Device Management (MDM) software, compliance reporting and more.
