Reyco Granning launches new line of independent front suspensions

ComfortMaster is the latest generation IFS and will be the direct replacement for other Reyco product families.

Reyco Granning introduces the next generation IFS suspension family branded ComfortMaster.

The first two platform variants will be based on 17,000 lb. GAWR and 20,000 lb. GAWR systems available for shipment November 26, 2018. Additional capacities are in development and new configurations will follow.

ComfortMaster is the latest generation IFS and will be the direct replacement for the popular IFS17S3, IFS18S3, and IFS20S3 product families. After a brief overlap period these existing Transit Bus and Motorhome IFS products will be phased out to make way for production of the new ComfortMaster series.

The system comes as a complete module without any loose parts. It includes sub-frame/cradle, power steering gear, steering linkage, and all components to make it a unitized bolt-in system.

ComfortMaster is Nitrogen charged with a sealed McPherson-style strut architecture. The Nitrogen strut integrates the functions of: spring, shock absorber, king-pin, and upper control arm into one component making the construction light weight and efficient.

“The tidy packaging of the strut affords the highest possible wheel-cut angle allowed by today’s tire manufacturers; at a true 60-degrees vehicle maneuverability is simply unprecedented” said Reyco Granning President John Stuart.

Reyco Granning completed subjective and instrumented performance evaluation comparing the ComfortMaster to both legacy Reyco Granning products and the leading competitor product. The on-vehicle evaluation clearly demonstrated a best-in-class ride and handling performance. For example on a key handling metric the lane change lateral acceleration was improved by 29 percent. On a key ride metric the vertical acceleration was improved by 32 percent.

“With some iterative tuning we were able to achieve the Holy Grail, improving handling without compromising ride” said Raoul Steenekamp, Reyco vice president of engineering.

“Reyco Granning has motored past its largest global rivals to develop the future of Independent Front Suspension," said Reyco Vice President of Sales and Marketing Arnie Dunai. "Some of us remember driving cars and trucks with solid front axles; with independent front suspensions so superior why would we want to go backwards? This advanced technology takes comfort, performance, and safety to another level for our customers and yours."

The ComfortMaster is ready for your application and is Reyco Granning’s most thoroughly validated product to date including on-vehicle testing, lab testing and field testing.
