Sears Holdings Corp. will close more than 100 stores and auto centers and cut thousands of jobs in the U.S., according to Reuters and several Internet investor websites.
Sears said in August it had closed 96 stories since February 2014 and planned to close at least 130 underperforming stores during the fiscal year, Reuters reported last week. The exact number of closures will be reported during the company’s quarterly earnings report in November.
Investor website Seeking Alpha released this list of stores that Sears will be closing, saying the total includes 63 Kmart stores, 34 Sears stores, 34 Sears Auto Centers, one Kmart distribution center and one Sears product repair facility. Additional stores could be closed.
The closures are scheduled between November and January, with many stores closing before Christmas, the website reported.
