The Automotive Distribution Network has announced the passing of Michael K. Sneed, president of Memphis-based Mid-America Parts Distribution Corp., a longtime Network shareholder.
Sneed, 56, passed away August 10, leaving behind his wife of 35 years, Petra Huckaby Sneed; and his two sons, Michael Blair Sneed and Justin Garret Sneed; his mother, Jennie Sneed; sister Melinda Sneed Sample; and grandchildren, Hadley Jean Sneed and Colin Michael Sneed. Mike’s father, Richard Sneed, preceded him in death.

“Mike Sneed was a natural leader who set examples for others by how he lived his life,” says David Prater, president of the Network. “Mike hit the ground running when Mid-America joined the Network back in 1997, quickly becoming involved in the group, including a term as chairman of our national accounts committee that same year. Mike loved this industry as he was a true car guy, and his enthusiasm and insightful perspective inspired us all. We already miss Mike. Our hearts go out to his beloved family at this time.”

A loyal member of the Memphis Street Rods car club, Sneed refused to let his deteriorating health slow him down in recent months—literally. In June, he traveledto Wildwood, N.J., with Steve Tucker, the Network’s VP of marketing, to compete in his first-ever Race of Gentlemen, the infamous beach racing event, where he won a first-round matchup despite what he called “wonderfully challenging conditions.”In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Mike's memory.
