Moran Family of Brands, one of the nation’s leading franchises of general automotive repair, transmission repair, window tinting and paint protection services, announced its annual Franchisee of the Year winners for 2020.

Franchisee of the Year Award winners were named in each of Moran’s franchise brands.  Franchisees eligible for the award must have demonstrated Moran’s core values of D.R.I.V.E. (Dedication, Respect, Integrity, Vision, Enthusiasm).  They also exhibit outstanding service to their customers and provide support for fellow franchisees and the entire system.  Voting for the awards was done by Moran franchisees.

“Congratulations to each of our Franchisee of the Year winners,” said Peter Baldine, President of Moran Family of Brands.  “They have all owned their respective locations for at least 25 years and have been among the most respected and successful members of the Moran system.  The selection is a deserved recognition from their peers for the valuable contributions they have made over the past year as well as their long tenures as franchise owners.”

Al Martin was named Milex Franchisee of the Year.  He has operated a Multistate Transmission store in Naperville, IL for the past 25 years and co-branded the shop with Milex Complete Auto Care in 2015.  Martin started with Moran as an operations manager for the corporate office and has recently served on Moran’s Franchise Advisory Alliance.  This year is the second time he has won the award, with the other coming in 2016.

Tom Layman was named winner in the transmission division of Mr. Transmission, Multistate Transmission and Dr. Nick’s Transmission.  His family has owned the Multistate Transmission shop in Waterford, MI since 1977.  Layman is a second-generation franchisee, having succeeded his father, Don, in ownership of the store.  Tom Layman has served as FAA board president since 2000 and has been a member of the state and national boards for the Automotive Service Association.  This marks the first time Layman has won the company’s Franchisee of the Year award.

The winner in the Alta Mere brand was Greg Goodman, owner of the Alta Mere store in Oklahoma City, OK.  This year marked the fifth time he has won the award after having previously received the honor in 2005, 2012, 2014 and 2017.  Over the past year, he developed an e-commerce site in which customers could purchase window tint packages and schedule installation appointments.  Goodman has been a part of the Moran Family of Brands system for 26 years.

The Franchisee of the Year winners will be recognized at the Moran Family of Brands’ convention, which will be held April 29 - May 1, 2021 in New Orleans.
