The new CP8849 ½-inch cordless impact wrench from Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co. is designed to eliminate the need for hand tightening and the risk of over-tightening bolts in tire changing and other vehicle service operations.
The company says the CP8849 is the first in the market with two shut-off positions and 850 ft.-lbs (1,150 Nm) of torque.
“We’re very proud to offer the vehicle service industry the first true ½-inch cordless impact wrench in its power class with two shut-off positions,” says Yann Pasco, global business development manager for vehicle service.
“With a choice of slow mode and fast mode, the CP8849 puts the operator in full control of tightening operations and proactively guides critical parameters such as torque to ensure that everything is done properly,” he says.
The CP8849 slow mode setting allows it to be used as a "snugging’ tool," replicating the subtle pressure and precision of hand tightening. Fast mode secures bolts at speed and with absolute confidence, shutting off just before maximum torque is reached.
The company says the CP8849 can be considered essential equipment in general maintenance on light and heavy vehicles, tire changing on passenger vehicles, SUVs and light pickup trucks, and MRO (maintenance, repair and operating ) applications.
Operation is efficient, easy and comfortable with smart features including lighted power selection on the rear of the tool, Chicago Pneumatic’s Side2Side forward and reverse selection setting, thermoplastic rubber grips for sure handling, and four front LED lights for better vision in dark spaces.
The CP8849 is offered as a bare tool, or bundled with two 20V 4 Ah or two 20V 6 Ah batteries, charger, and canvas carry case. The CP8849-2 is available with a 2-inch extended anvil.
