OTC, an SPX Brand, is offering its new Hub Grappler Kit, a complete solution for servicing wheel hubs and bearings on the vehicle without removing the steering components or knuckle.
This eliminates unnecessary alignments or the use of a shop press, making the job easier and cutting service time dramatically.
The tools, along with the manual, provide the capability to remove the hub and the bearing, and replace both on domestic, Asian, and European vehicles. It applies to cars and trucks/vans/SUVs that have replaceable wheel bearings and can be used on either front-wheel or rear-wheel drive applications.
The new 6575 Hub Grappler boasts a new and improved design featuring quick and easy adjustability, says Rob Kochie, OTC aftermarket Article manager at SPX Service Solutions. "The new jaws are designed and sized to properly fit hub applications and can be quickly located on the puller bar without the use of fasteners."
The hub and bearing application guide offered with the Model 6575 provides service technicians time-saving charts and detailed diagrams that show how every adapter is used, thus cutting service time by identifying tools required for service without trial and error.
"The Hub Grappler Kit includes all adapters and tools necessary for removing hubs and replacing wheel bearings on most domestic and import vehicles with floating or trapped rotors," Kochie says, adding that the new Hub Grappler Kit was specifically designed to apply maximum force with minimal effort from a pneumatic powered impact gun to also minimize service time.
The new 3/4-inch custom drive screw coupled with the special equalizer washer provides smooth operation while the proprietary heat treating and coating extends its life five to ten times longer than comparable drive screws. Also included in the kit are six new adapters that increase application coverage up to 2009 model year, a tie rod/ball joint tool, and two Ford axle installers.
OTC also offers a new Hub Tamer to Hub Grappler Update Kit (P/N 6575-2). This kit includes everything to update the popular Hub Tamer Kit to the new Hub Grappler Kit. It includes the Hub Grappler puller, six new adapters, miscellaneous hardware and the new comprehensive Hub Grappler application guide.
