Try out these four ideas to promote your shop, keep employees safe, and attract new customers during these trying times.

1. Shout it out 

You're open so spread it on social media. Shops are open and essential. Promote your hours -- share your story -- tout your services. 

2. Give the gift of repairs 

Offer discounted gift cards or gift certificates now -- you'll get immediate cash flow and customers can come in when they're comfortable. Tip: Add $10 to a $50 gift card as a small investment but big token of appreciation. 

3. Increase your no contact zones

  • Spare keys only -- and only in the store's key drop. Customers can pick up locked vehicles from the parking lot. 
  • Full precautions for techs -- gloves, masks, limited time touching when repairs are complete. 
  • Use videos -- like FaceTime or Zoom -- and communicating with customers is almost like they're in the shop. Add to repair photos for a lifelike experience. 
  • Accept payments exclusively online or over the phone.
  • Bonus: Promote steam cleaning and disinfecting of all vehicles at the end of service.
