(OCTOBER 31) Aftersoft Network N.A., Inc. announced at a Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show press conference that they have expanded their Autopart software application which is designed to be a key building block in "virtual supply chains" for automotive parts distributors and retailers.

When integrated with the systems of other business partners, Aftersoft's Autopart software can provide customers with a seamless digital management system spanning the entire supply chain, from the parts warehouse to the parts-end user.

"The automotive aftermarket supply chain is complex and notoriously inefficient, with inventory levels often in adequate or excessive and limited or inaccurate information about parts pricing and availability," said Ian Warwick, president and chief executive officer of Aftersoft Group, parent company of Aftersoft Network N.A.

Autopart is designed to integrate all of the business management process in the parts sector in a real-time manner, eliminating the problem of disconnected, outdated system, as well as manual, paper-based operations and old fashioned batch processing.

Jim French, managing director of Aftersoft Network N.A. pointed out that most of the time 100 billion dollars of auto parts sits on the shelf collecting dust for two years. "That means there is no turn for 24 months. Our software program can help people in the marketing channels make better purchase decisions. Also, in 27 percent of cases, parts are returned because the distributor shipped or delivered the wrong part. With correct information about the vehicle, we can help reduce that number," he added.
