Robert Bassett of Gates Automotive Aftermarket gets training award at AAPEX
The Gates Corporation announced that National Training Manager for the automotive aftermarket division, Robert “Bobby” Bassett, received the Northwood University Automotive Aftermarket Management Education Award at the 2013 Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) in Las Vegas.
The Northwood University Automotive Aftermarket Management Education Award, which recognizes distinct individuals who have shown substantial dedication to the educational process and the automotive aftermarket field over a number of years, will be awarded to Bassett at an awards luncheon during AAPEX, November 5.
Bassett began his automotive aftermarket career in 1978 and has been with Gates since 1999, starting as hydraulic regional sales manager for the Midwest. He was later promoted to zone manager and eventually national training manager, responsible for the United States and Canada. He works closely with professional automotive educators and customers, training them on solutions for belt and coolant system problems.
Bassett previously served on the board of the Mississippi Automotive Wholesalers Association and is currently a foundation board member of the North American Council of Automotive Teachers (NACAT).
“Gates is dedicated to promoting training and education and overall excellence within the automotive aftermarket industry,” said Dave Miller, Gates vice president of marketing, automotive. “All of our team members seek to make a positive impact on both the industry and our customers. We’re very proud of Bobby and happy that his efforts are being recognized.”
